Saudi fintech Geidea partners with BARQ to enable digital payments


DUBAI: To mark the two-day DIFC Fintech Week, Amazon Payment Services offered new businesses to sign up for the service with no transaction fees up to 200,000 dirhams ($54,451).

According to a statement, the offer also included accelerated onboarding of new customers with the help of internal account managers.

APS also held the “Startup Pitch Competition” during the event, which saw entrepreneurs and innovators pitch their business ideas to their leadership panel.

The winning team had the chance to explore potential business opportunities with the company team, the statement added.

APS executives engaged in discussions with fintech leaders, innovators, businesses, investors and policy makers throughout the event.

Emphasis was placed on how digital currencies can be safely and efficiently integrated into the payment options available in the region to increase efficiency and provide more options for customers and businesses.

During the Tech Talk session, Mohamad Imtiyaz, Head of Business Development at APS, discussed how innovation in payment services will lead to digital payments.

Srinath Hariharan, the company’s head of product management, spoke at a panel about the “Buy Now, Pay Later” option and its implications for businesses and consumers.

APS’ latest initiative is Amazon Fintech Lab, a digital innovation hub located in Dubai’s financial district. It will engage and foster fintech, online retail and broader business communities in the Middle East and North Africa.
