Newcastle United are reportedly ready to offer € 50million to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report from the Catalan media El Nacional, Newcastle United have stepped up efforts to sign Aurélien Tchouameni from AS Monaco in the January transfer window. The Magpies are ready to shell out up to € 50million to sign the AS Monaco midfielder, also courted by Real Madrid.
Aurélien Tchouameni has become one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. Widely ranked among the best players in Ligue 1, the French international has become a regular at the club and the country this season.
To date, the 21-year-old has made 67 appearances for Monaco, with five goals and four assists in the process. His progress hasn’t gone unnoticed either, with some of the world’s biggest clubs keen to sign him. And two of his potential suitors are Real Madrid and Newcastle United.
Real Madrid’s interest makes sense, given that Casemiro is approaching the final stages of his career while also being linked with several top clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain. Therefore, Real Madrid need to bring in a defensive midfielder who can at least relieve Casemiro, if not replace him entirely.
To that end, Tchouameni is a viable target for Real Madrid, who face stiff competition from Newcastle United in their pursuit. The Magpies’ eagerness to secure the services of the 21-year-old is not without reason either.
Following the takeover by the Public Investment Fund, the overhaul of the Newcastle United squad is one of the Premier League’s most anticipated events. To that end, the Tyneside club have been linked with a range of players across Europe, although they are fighting hard to maintain their Premier League status.
Tchouameni is one of the midfielders on Newcastle’s radar, and the Magpies are now ready to launch the offense for him. To that end, they are ready to offer up to € 50million to sign him from AS Monaco in January which has embarrassed Real Madrid as it has been suggested that Los Blancos may not make their move until next summer.
Furthermore, Tchouameni is also considering a move to Newcastle as he believes he could be the figurehead of their project instead of Real Madrid, where he will have to move Casemiro first to become a regular. So, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle can beat Real Madrid at the signing of the AS Monaco midfielder this winter or if he stays at the Ligue 1 club instead.
