Leeds United may be hoping Barcelona don’t enter the race to sign Adama Traoré in the transfer window, with the winger making an interesting claim about a potential Camp Nou return.
Adama was linked with the Whites again this summer. According to Eurosport last week, Leeds are working to find out how much Wolves want for the 25-year-old.
It has been claimed that Marcelo Bielsa’s men are ready to pay around £ 40million for Adama.
It remains to be seen whether the Wolves would be open to talks. But it looks like the Spain international is keen to move elsewhere.
Ahead of Spain’s last group game for Euro 2020, the wide player was asked if he would ever like to return to Barca.
He then hinted that his representatives were monitoring the Catalan giants’ plans in the market in case an opening did occur.
“Barcelona is my home, this is reality”, he said, as reported by the Daily Mail. “I grew up there, I’ve been there for 10 years.
“From now on we will have to make do with my agents and see what role Barca want.”
Leeds may not necessarily see Adama’s comments as a blow to the transfer
Adama could aim for Barcelona. But there is little at the moment to suggest if his former club are considering taking a step.
So that might not necessarily be something impacting Leeds this summer. But maybe that will be a problem later.
If Leeds are indeed ready to pay £ 40million for Adama, they are hopeful that he will continue to steal the show alongside Bielsa.
In this situation, Barca may well sit down and take it into account. And if he is offered the option of returning, his comments suggest he would have a hard time refusing it.
